ZIPAIR 180-minute ETOPS operation has been approved

Tokyo, October 26, 2020 - ZIPAIR Tokyo has received authorization for 180-minute ETOPS operation (the Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). This enables ZIPAIR to fly over the ocean for longer periods of time, and improves its on-time performance and operational capabilities.

About ETOPS
A twin-engine aircraft is required to safely continue flying to an adequate airport for landing, even with one engine stopped. A flight en route that includes a point in excess of 60-minute flight time from an adequate airport for landing is called an Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS) operation.
ETOPS authorization is required for longer oceanic flights where there are not many adequate airports in the route, as compared to flights over or along the land surface.
